The late, visionary, founder of Apple truly loved what he did. He had a passion for his work at Apple that was so strong he was truly involved in every aspect of the organization. This passion allowed the company to grow with employees that had a similar level of passion and zest for what they are creating. Eventually the passion that was shown by Apple employees for the products they were creating carried over into their customer and created a fanatical fan base.

So the question to ask yourself is simple, do you have something you do each day that you are passionate about? Do you jump out of bed in the morning or do you hit the snooze button? What you do each day slowly shapes who you are and how you show up to the world every day. When people are happy and doing what they love, their excited over the opportunity to wake up every day and create something. That is also someone who has a high level of Career Wellbeing.

According to a recent study by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average American workers spends 8.9 hours at work or doing related activities each day. Compare that to 3.7 hours that a person spends on caring for others and doing recreational activites and we can see that a person’s job takes up a large part of their day. Due to this fact, and with the rise of smartphones and the constant information flow that is thrown at us, it is imperative that we do something we enjoy and that we are passionate about. Why is this important? Well, it is reasonable to assume that if there is no passion or enjoyment in doing something for that long each day, you are stressed out, unhappy and possibly neglecting one of the other 5 Pillars of Wellbeing (Social, Financial, Physical or Community).

Career Wellbeing is almost like the glue that holds everything together, if you love what you do every day then you will pay attention to every other Pillar of Wellbeing in your life, so that you can keep yourself on track and just focus on what you love to do. In order to be completely centered and have a high level of wellbeing, doing something you love is paramount.
